JEEP WRANGLER JL

The JL kept the coil-sprung solid axles but rides on a wider, more refined platform than the JK it replaced — so most JK-specific fenders, armor, and suspension parts don't carry over. Built right, it's one of the most capable rigs off the lot.

Fitment

Rubicon models come with Dana 44 axles front and rear, an electronic sway-bar disconnect, and extra clearance out of the box; Sport and Sahara run a Dana 30 up front. 4xe and 392 models carry extra weight — the 4xe's battery sits under the rear cargo floor and the 392's V8 loads the nose — so spring-rate selection matters more than on a standard 3.6L.

Before you buy

A 2–2.5" lift clears 35s cleanly and is the most popular setup here; stepping up to 37s means more lift, fender trimming, and regearing to stay drivable. Coil-sprung Jeeps are prone to death wobble, so a solid track bar, a quality steering stabilizer, and a fresh alignment aren't optional — plan for them.
