A gray Tacoma TRD 4x4 stepped up the right way at Underdog Motorsports in Mesa, AZ - out with the old Rough Country leveling kit, in with an ICON Stage 2 coilover system (2.0 remote reservoirs) and Freedom Off-Road upper control arms for real damping control and off-road capability.
The Build
This gray Tacoma TRD 4x4 came into Underdog Motorsports in Mesa, AZ riding on a Rough Country leveling kit. We pulled it off and stepped the front end up to an ICON Stage 2 setup - 2.0 aluminum-series coilovers with remote reservoirs, a true performance shock with adjustable ride height and far better damping and heat management than a basic level.
To make the new setup work right, we paired the coilovers with Freedom Off-Road upper control arms to correct the geometry and add clearance. The result is a smoother, more controlled ride on the street and real capability when the pavement ends.
