The new 6th-gen 4Runner TRD Pro and Trailhunter already roll off the lot with serious hardware — but Scottsdale owners don't settle for “good enough,” and neither do we. From North Scottsdale and the 101 corridor it's a clean run down the Loop 101 to the 202 and over to our shop at Power & Baseline in Mesa. TRD Pro & Trailhunter Builds for How Scottsdale Drives

Scottsdale 4Runners live a double life — polished daily driver on the 101 and Scottsdale Road one day, trail rig headed up to the McDowell Sonoran Preserve, Rio Verde, Bartlett Lake, or the north-desert two-tracks the next. The 2025+ TRD Pro and Trailhunter are built for exactly that, and the smart money is on refining what Toyota gave you rather than tearing it out. The TRD Pro ships with factory FOX QS3 adjustable dampers and the Trailhunter rides on Old Man Emu (ARB) position-sensitive suspension — and because OME is one of our authorized lines, we can service, re-tune, or step up a Trailhunter's suspension in-house instead of sending you down the road. Both trims use an IFS coil-over front and a solid, multi-link coil rear, so they ride beautifully on the pavement Scottsdale owners cover every day.

The catch is weight. These are i-FORCE MAX hybrids, so there's real mass over the nose and extra battery weight to account for — and once you hang a roof rack, drawers, sliders, and a set of 34–35” tires on a premium North Scottsdale overland build, the factory tune starts working overtime. That's where our 38 years pays off: we match spring rates and valving to how the truck is actually loaded, fit upper control arms when a taller front setup calls for it so the IFS geometry stays correct, re-gear for the bigger meats so the hybrid drivetrain isn't straining, and finish every job with a proper alignment. No spacer lifts, ever — just a 4Runner that corners clean on the 101 and soaks up the whoops out past Rio Verde.

What We Install on Your 4Runner TRD Pro & Trailhunter

Suspension & Lift

FOX QS3 service and re-valving for TRD Pro, OME tuning and step-ups for Trailhunter, plus ICON, Bilstein and King options — dialed for the i-FORCE MAX's added weight. Done front and rear, never a spacer.

Wheels & Tires

34–35” all-terrains and hybrids on Method, ICON or your wheel of choice, mounted, balanced and fitted so there's no rub on the McDowell trails or in the daily grind.

Armor & Bumpers

Rock sliders, skid plates and front/rear bumpers to protect the hybrid underbody on the rocky north-desert two-tracks — sized to the Scottsdale build you have in mind.

Lighting

Ditch lights, light bars, pods and chase lighting — cleanly wired — so early starts for Bartlett or Rio Verde and dark desert returns are covered.

Overland Setups

Roof racks, bed and cargo platforms, drawer and storage systems, and recovery gear mounting — the premium, organized overland kit Scottsdale 4Runner owners ask for.

Alignment

Every install ends on the alignment rack. We reset caster, camber and toe for your new ride height and UCAs so the 4Runner tracks straight on the 101 and wears tires evenly.

Scottsdale 4Runner TRD Pro & Trailhunter FAQ

How far is your shop from Scottsdale?

About 25–35 minutes depending on where in Scottsdale you start. From North Scottsdale take the Loop 101 south to the 202 and exit toward Power Road; we're at 1845 S Power Rd near Power & Baseline in Mesa. Plenty of Scottsdale owners make the drive because the build is done right the first time.

Does the TRD Pro or Trailhunter even need a lift?

Not necessarily a “lift” in the old sense — both come trail-ready from the factory. Most Scottsdale builds are about fitting 34–35” tires, correcting for the i-FORCE MAX weight, re-gearing, and adding armor and overland gear. We tune the suspension to match rather than throwing a generic kit at it.

Can you service my Trailhunter's Old Man Emu suspension?

Yes. OME (ARB) is one of our authorized lines, so we can service, re-tune, or step up your Trailhunter's position-sensitive suspension in-house — no shipping it off or starting from scratch.

What about the factory FOX QS3 shocks on my TRD Pro?

We're an authorized FOX installer, so we can service and re-valve the factory FOX QS3 dampers or step you into a taller FOX setup — valved for how your 4Runner is actually loaded for McDowell and Rio Verde trips.

Do I need upper control arms and re-gearing?

UCAs come into play when you raise the IFS front enough to need corrected geometry — we'll tell you honestly whether your setup calls for them. Re-gearing is strongly worth it once you're on 34–35” tires so the hybrid drivetrain and transmission aren't fighting the bigger rolling mass.

Is an alignment included?

Always. Every suspension install at Underdog finishes with a full alignment — it's part of doing the job right, not an upsell. Your Scottsdale 4Runner leaves tracking straight and ready for the daily 101 commute.
